I was 13 the first time I truly understood what nature's gift could do.
The Bite That Started It All
I was thirteen years old when everything changed. An insect had bitten my arm, it swelled up, turned red, itched like nothing I’d ever felt before. I remember the discomfort, the frustration of not knowing what would help. Then my grandma appeared with something simple: a black nylon, unwrapped to reveal pure shea butter. She took a small portion on her finger and rubbed it gently on my arm.
Within seconds, the swelling went down. The itch faded. I couldn’t believe how fast it worked. That moment has always and will always stay with me.
Finding My Way Back
Years passed. In my twenties, I decided to transition my hair from perm to natural, a journey that requires patience, care, and the right products. I reached for shea butter again. It was the only thing that made sense for my curls, for my scalp, for the transformation I was going through.
But it didn’t stop there. Dry skin? Shea Butter. Ashy elbows? Shea Butter. My face routine? Shea Butter. It became the one constant in my beauty routine, the thing I kept coming back to, over and over.
The Realisation
Somewhere along the way, I realised something. This wasn’t just a product I was using. This was a legacy, something my grandma had known all along, something generations before us had trusted. And yet, the world didn’t know about it. Not really.
Something that powerful, that effective, that pure, it deserved to be shared. Not mass-produced, not diluted, not turned into something it wasn’t meant to be. It deserved to be exactly what it was: unrefined, natural, honest.
Why Unrefined Matters
When I say unrefined, I mean something specific. It means no additives, no synthetic chemicals, no preservatives. It’s shea butter the way nature made it, the way my grandma had it wrapped in that black nylon. Unrefined shea butter is richer, more potent, and more effective. It’s real.
Klear Shea Was Born
In 2020, I made the decision. I started Klear Shea (as Mami's Ori) to do one thing right: bring pure, unrefined shea butter to people who actually care about what goes on their skin. People like me. People like you.
Where We Are Now
We’ve taken our time. We’ve refined our process. We’ve listened to our community. And now, we’re ready for this next chapter. This is the relaunch of our brand. Klear Shea is stepping into what it was always meant to be, a quiet, intentional brand for people who know the difference between natural, real and everything else.
